Symposium: Sexual and Reproductive Health in fragile environments

Turning challenges into opportunities

On December 10th a symposium about challenges and innovative approaches that have improved the sexual and reproductive health of people in fragile environments will be held at KIT. Lessons learned and good practices shall be shared.

This symposium is organised together with he Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Share-Net International, Health Net TPO, Cordaid and International Medical Corps.

The aim of the symposium is to learn from and share evidence-based information of existing SRHR programmes and researches conducted about sexual and reproductive health in fragile environments.

This symposium will address the following specific topics:

  1. 1. Understanding the complexity and multi-layers of fragility and what kind of implications this has for accessing SRH rights and the uptake of Sexual and Reproductive Health services.

  2. 2. Sharing ways on how to optimize the supply and delivery of Sexual and Reproductive Health in constrained environments.

  3. 3. Diving deeper into community factors eg. gender inequality, social norms, preferences and needs that influence the uptake of SRHR services in post-conflict/fragile settings.

4. After this symposium a briefing paper will be published with some recommendations and some lessons will be further disseminated via 2 organised webinars to a wider international audience.
