MMS / aidsfocus.ch wurde gebeten, die Zivilgesellschaft in der Schweizer Delegation am High Level Meeting über HIV/Aids zu repräsentieren, das in New York vom 8. bis 10. Juni 2016 stattfinden wird. Dieses Treffen wird von der Schweiz und Sambia im Auftrag des Präsidenten der UNO Generalversammlung co-fazilitiert.

FEPA - Peter Marimi, ehemaliger Direktor von BHASO in Zimbabwe ist überzeugt: "Ich würde sagen, dass die Selbsthilfegruppen die wichtigste Instanz waren, um das Schweigen in der Gesellschaft zu brechen. Sie boten Betroffenen die Möglichkeit, sich – und damit auch ihre Familien und Gemeinden – mit der Krankheit vertraut zu machen und damit gegen die Tabuisierung anzugehen. Ohne die Selbsthilfegruppen wären wir nicht, wo wir heute sind."

UNAIDS announces 2 million more people living with HIV on treatment in 2015, bringing new total to 17 million
UNAIDS - "An estimated 17 million people were accessing life-saving antiretroviral medicines at the end of 2015, with an additional 2 million people gaining access over a 12-month period. The announcement, made in a new UNAIDS report entitled Global AIDS update 2016, comes as world leaders prepare to gather for the United Nations General Assembly High-Level Meeting on Ending AIDS, to take place in New York, United States of America, from 8 to 10 June 2016.

KELIN, Kenya - "The National Government has denied that it played a role in the forced and coerced sterilization of a woman living with HIV. In his response to petition 606, the Attorney General opposed the petition on grounds that it was not party to the actions of forced and coerced sterilization as complained of by the petitioner.

Health in Fragile Contexts
MMS/SRK/DEZA, 24 August 2016 - In an increasing number of countries the implementation of health programmes is challenged by fragile contexts. At the same time, fragility of a state is considered as one of the main causes for malfunctioning health services. Emergency situations aggravate such situation and reveal the weaknesses of the system. These settings evoke not only questions on how to adapt to shaking working environment or on sustainability, but also whether health programmes could make a contribution to reduce fragility.
